Co-moderators Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts replaced David Brinkley. They were familiar to the show’s audience, as both were frequent panelists in the Brinkley-era. Sam and Cokie’s This Week, never really caught on however. After 15 years of Sunday morning dominance, the number one spot was relinquished to NBC’s Meet the Press with Tim Russert. Cokie and Sam were replaced in 2002 after falling behind CBS’ Face the Nation.
My second favorite arrangement of the original Brinkley theme, though I wish you had more cuts from that particular package. I hope you add some frames to this and the section on the ‘81 Brinkley theme just like you’ve done for the other sections.
Keep up the good work!
I remember this theme being brought back on a couple brief occasions. In 2010, when Jake Tapper hosted the program, and again during the last few weeks of the Christiane Amanpour era in 2011.
The 2006-2010 theme, used during the latter half of George Stephanopoulos’s first stint as moderator, on through Jake Tapper as interim anchor, was a rearrangement of the classic Brinkley theme. The ’93 theme was brought back for three weeks during the summer of 2011. The rest of Christiane Amanpour’s tenure (ending in late 2011) used a new, Brinkley-esque theme. (The show introduced a slightly altered version of the “Your Voice. Your Vote” theme when Stephanopoulos returned in 2012.)
