This 1989 program replaced West 57th and was anchored by Connie Chung. Like West 57th it tried to set itself apart from other news magazines by doing things differently. How? In order to enhance the story telling, they used actors to recreate actual events. Critics charged that this blurred the line between news and fiction. The program, at any rate, was not very successful and only had a short run.

I seem to recall a shorter-lived NBC show called Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow from this period getting the same sort of criticism based upon the “re-enactment” gimmick. I’d have to dig up the tape of the sole episode I have of it, but I could have sworn that regular CBS composer Michael Colina did that show’s theme! Re: Re-enactments – I don’t remember it that much on this program, though honestly, I do recall the theme – and the interview she did with Marlon Brando that was from this show.
