NBC News Daily is a daytime newscast that replaced the long-running soap opera Days Of Our Lives on the NBC schedule. The theme is produced by Current Music and composed by SIKORA, a pop/rock record producing and songwriting duo consisting of Matthew Sikora and Liz Forde. SIKORA also created the “Top Story w/Tom Llamas” nighttime news theme on the NBC News Now platform, in addition to several high profile sports theme packages.
For the NBC News Daily theme, the main theme that was slated for use in the open and bed, was replaced in favor of a different cut of the package. The “Pop Culture” theme became the main theme. The original direction was already targeted to create something more modern and pop-oriented, while still having a nod to traditional elements. This last minute change worked out perfectly. The entire package of variations and elements is used throughout the show.
Current Music, a boutique custom music and licensing house, has created 31 original theme packages for broadcast and streaming shows as of September 2022. The founders, Christian Salyer and Maddie Madsen, have over 50 years experience combined in the custom music and licensing space. They started Current Music in 2013.
