This is a fuller, more orchestral arrangement of the previous theme. When this theme was used, Face the Nation expanded to an hour. It was the last of the Sunday shows to do so. There is still a clear break between the first half hour and the second, to accommodate local stations that do not air the back end. This theme was used until the retirement of longtime moderator Bob Schieffer.
