In the late summer of 2022, the CBS Evening News adopted a new look to bring it more in line with other CBS properties. As part of this, a new version of the classic Trivers/Myers-theme was introduced, produced by Antfood. The basis of the theme is a driving drum beat that leads into the horns playing the signature melody.

This is truly the CBS Evening News’ first theme in the Paramount era.
It’s more like headlines bed and closing titles theme
It feels like merged, the closing titles have a soft tone between the main ending tune.
This is the shorter cut from the package, there are three cuts. You’ll notice in the main theme at the end, the timpani/bass doesn’t sound, unlike in headline open.
I’d love to hear the other two cuts! 🙂
I emailed one of the two to the site, but he hasn’t put it up yet. I can’t find the third.

Does anybody know what the 2 second snippet of music is that’s used in the ads for the Evening News? It’s bass heavy chords with an unintelligible vocal and earsplitting portamento.

Hopefully we can also hear the alternate closing of the evening news with the different signature that was used originally when the package debuted, pretty please 🙂
